Vina Santurnia Crianza 2015
The vineyards are located near Labastida and Haro. Autumn and winter cold with snow and some rain, hot summer with cool nights. The soils are calcareous-clay with gravel. Vines planted between 1980-1998. Sustainable viticulture with respect for the environment. Hand harvested between the first and the third week of October.
Selection of the grapes and destemmed, falls directly by gravity into the fermentation tank. Alcoholic fermentation by the traditional method of carbonic maceration (fermentation tank filling and whole bunches, without peeling). It takes place in stainless steel tanks of 25000 L, during 8 days with temperature-controlled, between 28 and 30 ºC. Extended post0fermentative maceration on the skins for 5 days, with two pump-overs daily in the beginning with a light pump-over daily at the end. After the bleeding, then a further press of the grapes skins continues inside the tanks, to extract the maximum amount of wine in a natural way. Aged in American 80% and French 20% oak, during 24 months. Bottling in September of 2015. Production of 60,000 bottles.
Tasting notes: Black cherries and notes of vanilla. Well integrated dark fruit and oak, spices and toasted aromas. Medium tannins and a fresh aftertaste.
